Ihor Szeremeta, CFA - Director of US Retail Alternative Investments at Blackrock

Ihor Szeremeta, is a member of the US Retail Platform Development Group responsible for BlackRock's efforts. He is responsible for launching and marketing BlackRock's Alternatives Investment products (including Hedge Funds, Hedge Fund of Funds, Private Equity Fund of Funds and Real Estate) at partner firms.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Szeremeta was responsible for BlackRock’s coverage of the Private Banking and Investment Group at Merrill Lynch. He was also Affluent Markets Channel Manager for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, responsible for the development of Merrill Lynch Investment Manager's affluent market strategy. Prior to his role as Affluent Markets Channel Manager, he was responsible for the marketing the firm's High Net Worth separately managed account offering. He joined Merrill Lynch in 1993 as part of its Private Client Development Program.

Mr. Szeremeta earned a BS degree in Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a CFA charter holder, member of the CFA Institute, and the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia.

 

William Marr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ramius Trading Strategies

Mr. Marr has managed proprietary capital for financial institutions since 1985 and has invested with external trading managers since 1997.

Prior to co-founding RTS, Mr. Marr was a Managing Director and Head of Hedge Fund Research and Portfolio Construction at Merrill Lynch. Mr. Marr joined Merrill Lynch in 2006 as Head of Directional Trading hedge fund strategies responsible for the FuturesAccess platform. In 2001, Mr. Marr spearheaded the launch of Systematic Momentum FuturesAccess which became Merrill Lynch’s flagship multi-manager managed futures fund. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Marr was a Managing Director and Global Head of Alternative Investments for Julius Baer Investment Management, LLC, which he joined in July 2002 after serving as Senior Vice President and Head of FX Trading and Sales at Bank Julius Baer.

Prior to joining Bank Julius Baer in 1998, Mr. Marr was Vice President of FX Hedge Fund Development at AIG International. From 1985 to 1997, Mr. Marr actively traded and managed FX cash, futures, forwards and derivatives for international trading firms including Bankers Trust and UBS. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College.

 

 

Tom Murray - Managing Director and Investment Strategist at Arden Asset Management

In this role, Mr. Murray works closely with Arden's Investment Committee to develop the firm’s top-down view and helps manage Arden's customized portfolios. In addition, he interacts regularly with Arden's Client Service and Development team for client, consultant and industry meetings and events. Prior to joining Arden, Mr.

Murray was a Partner, Investment Committee member and Head of Portfolio Management at EIM USA. Prior to his tenure at EIM USA, he was a Portfolio Manager and Investment Committee member at Parker Global Strategies, a customized fund of hedge funds firm, and Vice President in Citigroup’s Fund of Hedge Funds division.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Murray worked at Alliance Capital Management and Salomon Brothers. Mr. Murray holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from Manhattan College.

 

Spencer Boggess - CIO, Alternative Investment at Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Spencer serves as the Chief Investment Officer for Merrill Lynch’s hedge fund research and investment group, chairs the Hedge Fund Investment Committee and serves as a member of the Private Equity Investment Committee. Spencer also serves as CEO of U.S. Trust Hedge Fund Management Inc. and Portfolio Manager for the Excelsior Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund of Funds. He has occupied this portfolio management role since July of 2003 and, as a result of BofA’s acquisition of U.S. Trust in 2007, assumed responsibility for the combined hedge fund platform. Previously, he had served as Co-Director of Research at CTC Consulting, a subsidiary of U.S. Trust focusing advisory services for ultra-high net worth families and as a Principal at Winston Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based alternative investment firm.

Spencer has been actively involved as a member of the Greenwich Roundtable, a non-profit organization focused on alternative investment education. As the former Education Committee Chair, Spencer served as author or general editor of the series “Best Practices in Hedge Fund Investing: Due Diligence for Equity Strategies” (2005); Due Diligence for Global Macro and Managed Futures (2006); and Due Diligence for Fixed Income and Credit Strategies (2007). Spencer received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and has done graduate work in foreign affairs at the University of Virginia.
